“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

Matthew 5:14-16

WHY CAMP?

...

Our desire is to loose the distractions of the world and take some time away to focus on the One that truly matters.

As Christians we are on a mission that goes far beyond simply attending church on Sunday ... and beyond even the service we may do in our communities.  Just as John the Baptist would prepare the way for Jesus by sharing "light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death" (Luke 1:79), we are "in the same way [to] let [our] light shine before others, that they may see [our] good deeds and glorify [our] Father in heaven" (Matt. 5:16).  "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (2 Cor 4:6), and it is our mission to spread the light of the Gospel!

Join us at camp this year as we explore the Scriptures together and encourage one another, in Christ, to be a light in the darkness.

A Challenge Was Given

Throughout camp - and at the end of Pastor Roberto's camp message - a challenge was given to find and commit to an accountability partner; someone you would keep in touch with throughout the year on a regular basis.  This person (or people) would help you to continue being "the light of the world" as Jesus commanded in Matthew 5:14.  Likewise, you would help your partner to do the same.

Below are the questions that you can use to guide the conversations that you will have whenever you meet with your accountability partner.  We pray that the message from camp, your accountability partner, and the following questions will serve to help you remain rooted in the Scriptures throughout the year, living out lives in service and obedience to the Lord, and be "a light in the darkness."

Accountability Questions:

1) What have you been living for this week (or these weeks)? That thing you were living for, was it something that helped your light to shine?

2) How have you let your light shine by avoiding sin? What steps are you taking to actively keep your "light from dimming" or being seen?

3) How have you let your light shine by your active engagement in good deeds / righteousness?

4) Who will you intentionally share the Gospel of Christ with this week (or these weeks) and help to disciple into a deeper relationship with the Lord? In other words, who will you intentionally pour your life into to help that person in their walk with and/or knowledge of God? Did you reach/disciple the person you prayed about last week (if applicable)?
