Saying Goodbye to 2017
The Rohingya, Yemen, Syria, North Korea, Jerusalem, Palestine ... Houston and Puerto Rico ... Montana, Idaho, and Northern California ... a lot has happened in 2017 :).
It's funny how you can go an entire year being so busy, and then for an instant you find yourself with the time to just stop and think about the last 365 days: the stories you've heard from refugees; from Palestinian taxi drivers; from soldiers overlooking a civil war in a neighboring State; from the marginalized and forgotten; and from the fearful ...
... But also from the hopeful; from new parents; from the brave who don't live in the "land of the free" but whose circumstances are home none-the-less; and from those whose conviction, resolve, and faith press them to continue looking upward, even when the smoke from fires obstruct their view.
Someone asked me if I have a quote for 2017 ... here it is:
"The world is a dark place; anyone who tries to tell you otherwise is, at best, lying to you, and at worst, trying to unscrew the lightbulbs. But the good news is once you realize that then you can stop looking below the clouds, chasing after fireflies; your mind is freed to continue looking upward toward the light of life that shines for all men who would seek to follow it ... an unending source of light and life more abundant and powerful than the sun."
